Summer Base

With the hot and humid weather over the past week, I’ve made a few changes to my make-up routine so I thought I’d share it here today. I hate the feeling of anything too heavy on my face during the summer months, so I have been rooting through my stash for light creamy bases and products to make my skin glow!

Before I start anything, I’ll make sure to use an SPF. Clarins Wrinkle Control factor 50 is my favourite and ensures ultimate protection from the sun’s rays.
A primer is the next step to prep the skin and ensure that my make-up stays put in the heat! I have been using Rimmel’s Fix & Perfect Primer in shade 002. I like the texture and it really smooths out the skin.
For concealer, I use Naked Skin by Urban Decay – the coverage is amazing and it’s virtually weightless. When it comes to the main base, I love Benefit’s Big Easy BB cream. It’s a liquid to powder formula with a lovely finish. This also has SPF 35 which is an added bonus!
I was always a liquid foundation girl but I’ve been experimenting with Clarins Skin Illusion Mineral Powder recently and I love it. It’s a loose powder with buildable coverage. I find it so quick and easy to apply, using shade 107 beige. It looks great alone or over the Benefit BB cream for extra coverage. Beware though that it is messy. So be careful where you are when you open it!

Finally, to add a golden glow I’ve returned to my old favourite Soleil Tan the Chanel for a bronzed contour. Benefit’s Fine One One, as you can see from the well worn packaging, is a much loved gem in my make-up bag. It’s lovely on the cheeks for a flush of coral. I finish off with MAC Strobe cream on my cheekbones, down the centre of my nose and on my cupid’s bow. I only bought this recently and I’m obsessed, it’s the most gorgeous highlighter, I love it!
