Spring Staples

With that taste of sunshine last week, brighter evenings and Easter approaching, I can’t help but crave all things Spring – regardless of the current temperatures!

Weather aside, it’s never too early to make a list and take stock of what you already have in your wardrobe and what you might need to add for the new season. I focused on shopping for a capsule collection of staples last Autumn/Winter and it worked so well that I’m going to continue it on this season. Having a select number of hardworking pieces that I could mix and match made getting dressed in the mornings ten thousand times easier…and who doesn’t want that?!

I did a massive wardrobe clear out recently after binging Marie Kondo on Netflix (loved it!) and I was extra ruthless this time around! It gave me space to see what I actually have and what gaps I need to fill for the coming months.

When it comes to updating the staples, many pieces remain constant all year round but you might want to swap them out and introduce some lighter colours and fabrics for Spring/Summer. I definitely want to shake my jeans game up a little bit this season and try out a straighter cut or a ‘Mom’ style as a change from my usual skinnies.

Here’s a peek at my top picks for the perfect capsule wardrobe and some styling inspiration courtesy of Pinterest.

  • Jeans
  • White shirt
  • Basic tee (black, white, grey and blush)
  • Silk shirt
  • Blazer (white or a pastel tone)
  • Chino style trousers
  • Slip on flats, neutral block heel sandal, light coloured trainers
  • Knitwear (a selection of fine knits in light coloured tones)
  • Slip skirt
  • Outerwear (trench coat and denim jacket)
