This room has been so enjoyable to work on and it’s the first one in the house that’s almost complete! I am still waiting on a lamp and need to choose wall art but they will hopefully follow soon. In the meantime, I thought I’d share my vision behind the room along with details on floors, paint colours, furniture etc. Grab a cuppa & enjoy 🙂
The floors were the starting point for this room, followed by the couch. I went with a bright engineered oak herringbone in the shade Bayonne (from Matt Britton) to maintain an airy feel in the space. I knew from the outset that I wanted a light couch and I shopped around a bit before settling on the Connie from Diamond Furniture. I loved the modern legs on this combined with the classic cushions, it’s unbelievably soft and comfy!
Next, I moved on to my feature wall which has added lots of character to a room with no real focal point. It houses the TV along with plenty of shelves for styling and concealed presses in the bottom for additional storage.
I wanted to keep the unit neutral but warm so went for a gorgeous creamy grey paint (Old Bone by Colourtrend). This is complimented well by Hepburn Mid (by Fleetwood) on the walls, which is just a shade or two deeper.
With the paint adding a moodier feel to the room, I took to Pinterest for inspiration on the remaining elements of the space. It soon became clear that dark woods were featuring heavily – looking for common themes across the photos you save is a great way to hone in on your preferences, which can sometimes be subconscious believe it or not! I shared my mood boards with Egan Interiors, who are wizards at sourcing literally anything you want. They found the perfect coffee table to finish off the room along with a statement chandelier that I had set my heart on after spotting in a showhouse!
When it came to styling the room, I stuck to a palette of white, greige and cream for the shelves with lots of greenery and texture through interesting objects and ornaments. And the beauty of a neutral couch means that soft furnishings can be swapped out as the seasons change. It’s all quite bright and neutral for spring but I’m looking forward to adding deeper tones later on in the year.
I definitely have another blog post in me to go into detail on shelf / coffee table styling, it’s my new favourite hobby! For now, I’ll hone in on my basket tray (Egan Interiors) which is without a doubt one of my favourite pieces in the room – it really ties everything together while adding lovely texture!
Finally, the curtains add lovely warmth and definitely up the cosy factor in the evenings. These were custom made by Material World Naas and I love them!
I will list all of the suppliers below, so it’s easy to bookmark and save.
Happy Easter!
